Behind the Purple Patch

Cathy Heather

Cathy, the owner, was previously an Accountant; training and organising others for their own business. She has now created a dream that was lingering in the background. She has created her own unique and distinctive dress-sense -- Always in purple of course! She uses her own patchwork fabrics to create unusual clothes. Cathy has an inate sense of fun and loves to instill happiness in others.

Linda Butcher

Linda Butcher tried many different crafts before starting a basic patchwork course over twelve years ago. She hasn't looked back since. Linda has been teaching for several years and is accredited with the NSW Quilters Guild. She joined the team here at Purple Patch over four years ago and now teaches all levels of students from beginners to advanced. Linda's special interest is in handwork (patchwork and quilting), but has also been known to 'whip up a quickie' on the machine. A number of Linda's quilts have won prizes at the NSW Quilters Guild shows. The most successful was first prize in the 'First Time Entrants' category several years ago. This Year, Linda recieved a 'Judges Commendation' in the Sydney Quilt Show.

Ann Perry

Ann learnt sewing at an early age, made a lot of her own clothes and later, curtains and cusions for her own home. Ann tried many other hobbies such as cross stitch and tapestry before becomming interested in patchwork in 1999. All her other interests went into hibernation. Ann taught at several community colleges whilst undertaking the Teachers' Accreditation Course with the guild. The guild appointed Linda Butcher as her advisor, which is how Ann became invilved with The Purple Patch. Ann did her shop 'apprenticeship' and for three years Ann teachers an number of classes here covering all levels. She loves handwork of all forms, but like many of us, suffers from a lack of time, so must sometimes incorporate machine work. Ann is currently intrigued with 'tessellations' and has designed and made several of these.
